1 Day :Excursion from Marrakech to imlil and the atlas mountains.
Just 64 miles from Marrakech, Imlil sits in a west-facing valley in the High Atlas mountains and is overlooked by the Jebel Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa.
Once a thriving pastoral hamlet, it is now a bustling village catering to an-ever increasing tourist traffic.
Imlil, Morocco, serves as a base for hikers, mule-trekkers and serious mountaineers a like wishing to either explore the valleys or attempt the 4000 metre climb to Jebel Toubkal’s summits.
On the way to Imlil, there is a beautiful drive to Asni, enjoy your camel Ride a small crossroads town set in luxuriant gardens and orchards, and famed for its alpine flowers in spring, its lovely walks on the Kik plateau, and its souk held every Saturday.
On other days of the week you will make a stop at the mountainside village of Moulay Brahim. Dominated by its tall minaret, this is a place of pilgrimage named after the famous Sufi saint and healer of the same name; it is also known as Tayr Lejbel (Berber for Bird of the Mountain).
It has the most spectacular views across the Kik plateau which seems to pierce through to the secret heart of the Atlas. Your return to Marrakesh will take in a stop at the picturesque, seven-mile long Lake Lalla Takerkoust and its impressive dam and barrage.
