Telouet Valley & Berber Villages Trek (8 Days)

Description

The village of Telouët was for a long time the place of residence of the great chief Glaouï who controlled the region and had united the Berber tribes against the royal power. The Ounila valley was the obligatory crossing point for caravans coming up from the South and going to Marrakech in order to exchange salt, gold and other riches for foodstuffs. It is in this valley steeped in history that we offer you to stay in the heart of a Berber village.
NB: this stay takes place in a star, it is possible to adapt the hikes each day according to your fatigue and your desires. Any modifications to the program must be made in agreement with the guide and the entire group.

Itinerary & Trek Details:

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech and check-in at the hotel.

Depending on the arrival time of your plane, you can take the time to wander the streets of the Medina of Marrakech, the red city.

Day 2: Marrakech – Tizi ntichka – Tighouza

Departure in the morning by minibus towards the South through the High Atlas. Once we have crossed the Tizi N’Tichka pass, head towards Telouët which we pass to follow the road which leads to the bottom of the Ounila valley. Very quickly the road becomes a track which winds through the valley. Short 2 hour walk to reach the lodge where we stay for the week. Night in a lodge in the village of Tighouza (1880m). 4 hours drive / 2 hours walk

Day 3: Tighouza – Source Aït Alla

Today we are going to the sources of Aït Alla crossing high plateaus serving as pastures for the herds of the valley. Return and night at the lodge. this day 5 to 6h walk

Day 4: Source Ait Alla – Tawrine Gorges

Our steps lead us today to the Tawrine gorges after having climbed the Tizi Oukhssane pass (2350m). Return and night at the lodge. 6h30 walk

Day 5: Tawrine Gorges – Gardens of the Ounila Valley

Through the gardens and orchards of the Aourik valley we reach the N’Tounaine assif and the Djebel n’Isly. We reach Anmiter and go back to the lodge to spend the night. 5h30 walk

Day 6: Gardens of the Ounila – Blue Lake of Tamda,

A good day of walking awaits us. We head west alongside the crops where the inhabitants of the village are already at work. Lunch on the banks of Lake Tamda (2650m) and return to the lodge. 7 to 8h walk

Day 7: Tighouza – Marrakech

After a final short walk, we find the minibus which will take us back to Marrakech. On the road, possibility of visiting the Kasbah of Chief Glaouï in Telouët (entrance at your own expense). Night at the hotel in Marrakech.2 hours of walk – 3.5 hours of driving

Day 8: Transfer to marrakech airport
